I live with my husband and two daughters. I am working as a Deputy Manager accounts in one of the reputed institutions of Mumbai conducting Banking Examinations. I attended a retreat with my family in 1999. My daughter, twenty four years of age is a Down Syndrome child. At birth she was detected with a congenital problem, a hole in the heart with multiple complications and very high lung pressure. In fact the doctors had said that she would not survive for more than two years. She was on treatment right from birth. Doctors had told us to leave her as she was as her operation was very complicated and she had very little chances of survival with very high lung pressures. But we did not lose our faith in Jesus. We came to Divine Retreat Centre for five years and prayed during our retreats to heal her so that she would be a witness to Him. DRC I received the healing for my daughter by November 2004 when she underwent an open heart surgery. We had faith in Jesus that He would heal her. The doctor had asked us to take her home as her case was complicated. The doctors went ahead with the surgery and it was a total success. Before coming to DRC I had attended an outreach programme at Mulund conducted by Fr. Mathew Naickomparambil. When I went to him for healing for my daughter he advised me to surrender her in God’s hands. He told me that she is God’s child and He has a plan for her. That plan unfolded as she started growing and strengthened my faith. Before her operation I was crying and praying to God. I asked Jesus one question. “Lord why have you done this to me. What sins had I committed that my child had to suffer so much and now she has to undergo this surgery which doctors are not even sure of its success.” At that time when I opened the Bible I got the verse in Jn 9: 1-3 where Jesus tells His disciples that the man was born blind not because of his sins or the sins of his parents, but that the glory of God may be seen through him. I knew that God was talking to me and He had answered my question. This passage touched my heart and I knew that Jesus would work wonders through my daughter which He has done. After her surgery she attended a special school. After seven years of basic education she went to a special school for vocational course in Catering and Hospitality. Today she is working as a junior chef in Hotel Indigo. I suffered a slip disc in 2016 and was hospitalised, advised bed rest. However, once I resumed work my pain returned and before I came to DRC my left leg was going numb. I had stopped treatment because this sickness got well only through exercise. Now I do not do any exercise and ever since I am here I have not felt any pain in my back. The numbness in my leg is gone and my knee pain is completely gone. During praise and worship I prayed not only for myself but for all. I praise and thank God for His blessings.
