About Divine

About Divine

Divine Retreat Center, a Catholic retreat centre for the spiritual renewal of the people, is located in the peaceful, breathtaking setting, on the banks of the river Chalakudy in Kerala. It is run by the Fathers of the Vincentian Congregation’s Mary Matha Province, with the blessing of the Catholic Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly. RETREAT CENTRE HISTORY

Divine Retreat Center has three ministries – spiritual retreats, charitable services and the media ministry.

Since its beginnings in 1989, week-long spiritual retreats have been held every week. Over 10 million pilgrims from all over the world have attended retreats here. The Centre receives an average of 5000 retreatants every week for the retreats held in 7 languages – English, Malayalam, Konkani, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. RETREATS

The retreat centre follows the sacramental and charismatic spirituality of the Vincentian Fathers. Hence, there is an equal thrust on the proclamation of the Word and on the service of the marginalized. The Divine campus includes 5 charitable homes with over 2000 residents who have found a refuge and a purpose in life. CHARITIES

The Divine Retreat Centre has been evolving as the response of God to the people’s spiritual needs. In 2002, the Divine Vision ministry took shape in order to continue spreading the good news of Jesus Christ through the television ministry. The comforting touch of God reached the ends of the earth, especially the bedsides of the home ridden, those overwhelmed by tight schedules of the busy world and as a continuing spiritual companion of the seeker. Over these years and especially during this time of the pandemic crisis, the spiritual relevance and mission of this ministry has been developing with its recent entry into the online presence via the YouTube and social media platforms. MEDIA

Divine Community

Christian proclamation is exercised through the preaching of the Word, the sacramental life and the exercise of the charisms of the Holy Spirit and through the community life. The retreats at Divine are a powerful expression of the witness of a praying community. As described of the early Church, there is a community of religious and lay persons devoted to “the breaking of the bread, the teaching of the apostles, prayers and fellowship” (Acts 2:42). The community is held together by the spiritual leadership of the Vincentian Fathers. The priests, sisters and lay members work together for the retreat ministry. While some are devoted to prayer, some to service, some are involved in the preaching and counseling ministries.
Intercessors
Divine has 24 hour Intercessory Prayers happening. A few teams of Prayer Warriors are dedicated to pray for the needs of those attending the retreats and for all the intercessions flooding in from around the world through email, phone and this website. Read More
